Introduction: The Nursing Care Systematization, regulated in Brazil through the Federal Nursing Council, is a method based on scientific knowledge that organizes and leads the professional's work and has as main goal to systematize and qualify the care of the patient, the family and the community. Objective: To identify the difficulties of the applicability of the nursing care systematization in the hospital environment. Method: integrative literature review, in the BVS, SciElo and Google Scholar databases, which answered the following guiding question “What are the factors that hinder the applicability of nursing care systematization in the hospital environment?”, Which inclusion criteria were: qualitative and quantitative studies, published between 2012 and 2020, in Portuguese, available as a whole. Results: Lack of knowledge and interest, work overload and reduced human resources are the main factors that hinder the applicability of nursing care systematization. Conclusion: The results obtained provide a basis for the discussion of the theme and emphasize the importance of the applicability of nursing care systematization in the nurse's daily routine, presenting strategies that encourage professionals to understand the relevance of nursing care systematization in care and the development of tactics so that their difficulties are creatively overcome, highlighting the need of changes in the work process, the need for training and updates that allow nurses to reflect on the importance of their role in care, encouraging the use of nursing care systematization in a systematic way to promote care, which will result in an improvement in the quality of care and will give more credibility and autonomy to professionals.
